Dylan Song Inspires Childrens Book

A Bob Dylan song from his 1979 album Slow Train Coming is serving as the basis for a new children's book.

Dylan approved the book, which borrows the title of his song "Man Gave Names to All the Animals," which itself is a reference to the biblical verse in Genesis 2:20.

Additionally, Dylan allowed illustrations to be made that were inspired by his own lyrics.

"I thought this vision would make a dream of a book," said artist Jim Arnosky. "[So] I asked for Bob Dylan's permission to make this dream come true. Happily, he said yes."

Sterling Children's Books will publish the book in September, and the package will come with a CD of Dylan's original recording of the song.

Dylan previously had a children's book created from "God Gave Names to All the Animals." In 1999, a book with the same title was publicshed featuring drawings by illustrator Scott Menchin, though that title is currently out of print.
